Max Factory Figma Series 001 & 006 Nagato Yuki & Asahina Mikuru (Christmas ver)

First figures for 2009. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to those few who read my blog.

Aside from being my first figures for 2009, these are also my first Figmas.
I'll try not to compare with Fraulein figs so much.

First Impression: "Oh hey, look, Haruhi series figures. Okay, let's go. WAIT. How much for these?" I felt compelled by these figures to buy them. The only reason I didn't get Haruhi was there wasn't any stock of her left at the store where I bought these two.

Poseability: Oh man, it's hard not to compare to Revoltech's Fraulein line. Revolver Joints are NOTHING compared to Figma joints. They move so SMOOTHLY, you won't even hear clicks or feel bumps unlike Revolver Joints.

Appearance: Both figures have a more-than-decent paint job, no blemishes, bumps or faults of the sort.

Gimmicks: The figures come with the Christmas additions for Figmas, a set of hands, a pair of school shoes, a stand and extra faces. Mikuru's set isn't very special, just the bare minimum I said earlier, however, Yuki's has a bit more to it. For one, it includes a folding chair, two books (one open and one closed) and an extra hair piece with glasses included.

And here ends my first Figma review, as well as first figure review for 2009. Maybe I should rename myself to FIGMAFAG, as I think I'm going to be addicted to Figmas now... Ha.

Fraulein Revoltech No. 10 Yoko

Hopped over to China Square Central again and got me a Fraulein Yoko figure a day after its release.

Here's my review on it. Sorry if the photos are crappy, but I can't help it. I need a new phone. D:

Details:
Name: Fraulein Revoltech No. 10 Yoko
Sculptor: Tomohide Enoki
Price: $28 (SRP $32 - 2300 yen)

First Impression: "Hey, this is really cute." The moment I saw the model at the shop, I immediately got the urge to buy. It could have been my GL fanboyness taking over, but either way, the figure was asking to be bought. (at least for me, it did)


Cute pose is cute.

Poseability: The figure makes use of standard Revolver joints, so poseability is nearly the same as the Yamaguchi Revoltechs. However, there are a few slight differences: the knee doesn't have a revolver joint, and poseability is limited. Two, the joints have some sort of 'indent' which hides the Revolver from view. This causes limited poseability due to the joint not being able to rotate freely. One example is the leg part. Like the Fraulein Rin, the joints connecting the legs to the hips are a bit loose, but unlike the Rin, those joints do not get removed easily. Another downside is that they don't bend so much either. So, overall, the Yoko's poseability is still good.

Appearance: The paint job is absolutely good. It's crisp and clear, and there are no paint smudges and blotches. Her face is clean and free of any blemishes or discolorations. Her appearance is really close to the show.

Additional gimmicks: Fraulein Yoko comes with her huge rifle (with semi-elastic strap, of course.), a set of eight additional hands, an additional face part (angry), an extra hairpiece (with goggles/visor/whatever you call it) and a stand.

Overall: 9/10. I'd give it a 10 if it wasn't for the indented joints and the legs, but then again the indents do help with the appearance, and you can't always get what you want, right?

Revoltech Yamaguchi No. 60 Enki

For my second review, here's Viral's Ganmen, Enki. I got it a week after release XD

Bought in: Some shop in China Square Central

Price: $22

Release Date: 15-Sep-08

First impression: The moment I took it out of the box I knew it would be an awesome figure. The sculpting was perfect, and if you didn't know it was from Gurren Lagann, you'd think it was an Eva unit.

Poseability: Same as the Gurren Lagann, only problem is, the joints connecting the arms to the main body are connected to a panel on the back (it doesn't attach from the side). Quite a bit of a problem when I do part-switching (e.g. Gurren Lagann arms to the Enki, Lazengann arms, etc)

but still great overall. All joints are connected via Revolver, so great articulation and poseability.

Appearance: True to the original. The paintjob is nice, nothing out of place, no blotches, nothing. Simply awesome.

Additional stuff: The figure comes with a pair of swords, shoulder-mounted launchers and another launcher for the face part, which attaches through the "eyebrow" Revolver joint.

Overall: 9/10. As earlier stated, the torso joint is this figure's only bad point.

Revoltech Yamaguchi No. 58 - Gurren Lagann Fulldrillized

Took me long enough to get it up, but here it is! The Gurren Lagann Fulldrillized, my first Revoltech Yamaguchi figure.

Bought at: Xeno Hobby, Sunshine Plaza (it was the last they had there :P)

First impressions: Pointy. Do note that the pointy tips of the drills are actually sharp (Something I learned the hard way by accidentally laying my hand square onto it). The figure is POINTY. POINTY, pointy, pointy. Whatever you say, it's pointy. Extremely.

Poseability: The Revolver joints are a nice gimmick to the figure, although they do take time to get used to (imagine my shock when I heard clicking sounds when I tried to pose it). These joints actually enable the Revoltech to be posed in many different ways. (by the way, they don't come off so easily)

Appearance: This is basically your standard Gurren-Lagann, except with extra drills. (the drills come out when Kamina or Simon uses Circle Spun Driller or Giga Drill Breaker) One sad thing, though, is the fact that you can't attach the Flight Pack found in Enki and Lazengann. Which means I have an extra one. The Gurren's glasses are tinted and translucent, which means you can see the Gurren's eyes through them. 

Additional stuff: The Gurren-Lagann Fulldrillized also goes with three sets of extra hands (one set open hands, one set pointing, one set for holding [sunglasses]). It also comes with the huge sunglass-boomerang used during [Hissatsu! GIGA DORIRU BUREIKA!], an extra Gurren faceplate, and extra head [figure comes with the angry head attached, and the additional is the standard face.]. As with most Revoltech figures (or not), it comes with a stand.

Overall: 9/10. I would have given it a 10 had it allowed for the Flight Pack to be attached to it. Overall, though, it's a great figure and was worth my money.
